Hackathon with Agentforce

HEALTHCARE | AI FOR GOOD | PREVENTIVE CARE

Cool things happen when you put curious humans together with a good idea and a blank canvas.

Scope
AI assistant built in Salesforce Agentforce for preventive mammography care

1-week hackathon

2025

In March 2025, I joined PwC’s internal hackathon exploring how AI-driven innovation could reimagine healthcare. Our team focused on applying Salesforce Agentforce to one of the most critical challenges in preventive care: early breast cancer detection.

Starting with a blank canvas, we brainstormed how conversational AI might transform the way patients engage with healthcare systems, access education, and schedule screenings.

The result was a prototype designed not just as a scheduler, but as an empathetic companion supporting women through the mammography journey.

Backstory

Breast cancer is one of the leading causes of death among women, yet early detection significantly improves outcomes. We set out to answer three key questions:

  1. How could Agentforce reduce barriers to preventive care?

  2. Could conversational AI educate, nudge, and support women in scheduling mammograms?

  3. And how might we build a solution that was scalable, empathetic, and accessible across diverse healthcare systems?

Our mission was to prove that AI can be a force for good in healthcare — not replacing human care, but enhancing it.

We envisioned Agentforce as the connective tissue between technology and compassion, showing how conversational AI could reassure patients, streamline logistics, and strengthen preventive care pathways.

The Opportunity

TThe demo will illustrate how an empathetic AI assistant can guide a first-time mammogram patient from start to finish. Through “Sophie’s Journey,” we showed how the assistant books appointments, provides prep checklists, and responds with compassion when Sophie expresses fear.

It also demonstrates multilingual support, adapting instantly when Sophie switches to Spanish, and explains results in plain language after her visit. Finally, Sophie shares feedback and conveniently schedules her next annual screening — showing how the assistant closes the loop on preventive care.

Behind the Scenes: The Build

What made the demo compelling was that it wasn’t just scripted dialogue — it was a structured Agentforce solution design.

  • Topics & Actions: We created flows for Scheduling, Prep FAQs, Results & Follow-Ups, and Feedback Collection, each enabling specific, actionable outcomes.

  • Knowledge Base: A curated set of guides ensured responses were accurate, empathetic, and consistent, covering everything from preparation to emotional concerns.

  • Omni-Channel Connections: Patient chats initiated through provider websites were routed into Agentforce, with graceful escalation to live agents for sensitive cases.

  • Multilingual Capability: The assistant could switch between English, Spanish, French, and Italian reducing language barriers and broadening accessibility.

Conclusion

This hackathon reaffirmed that when you bring curious humans together with a meaningful idea, the outcomes can inspire real change. We demonstrated how Agentforce could go far beyond appointment scheduling to become a trusted, empathetic companion in preventive care.

The project highlighted benefits for patients — reassurance, education, and easier access — and for providers — backlog reduction, smoother coordination, and continuous feedback loops.

More importantly, it deepened my passion for designing AI-driven healthcare solutions with heart.
